Sent On behalf of the Honourable Glen Abernethy
The Department of Health and Social Services is now accepting applications to the 2016/17 GNWT Anti-Poverty Fund (the Fund). Up to $500K will be allocated to initiatives aligned with the 5 Pillars of the Territorial Anti-Poverty Action Plan: Children and Family Support; Healthy Living and Reaching Our Potential; Safe and Affordable Housing; Sustainable Communities; and Integrated Continuum of Services.
For the 2016/17 fiscal year, priority consideration will be given to projects within two streams:
- New initiatives or pilot projects which will explore possible solutions to address poverty within the Pillar areas; or,
- Funding for existing projects to support sustainability planning for the initiative, potentially reducing reliance on the Anti-Poverty Fund in future years.
Projects must demonstrate a collaborative partnership approach, and may be community-based, regional, or territorial in scope. Guidelines for Funding and an Application Form are available online athttp://www.hss.gov.nt.ca/health-social-services/slides/gnwt-anti-poverty-fund(English) orhttp://www.hss.gov.nt.ca/fr/health-social-services/slides/le-fonds-anti-pauvrete-du-gtno(French).
The application deadline is Friday, June 17, 2016.
Eligible applications will be reviewed by the Anti-Poverty Advisory Committee, and their funding recommendations will be presented to me for final decision.
Please share this information with your constituents and organizations in your communities. The Senior Advisor, Anti-Poverty, Kyla Kakfwi-Scott, is available to assist applicants with any questions about the Fund or the application process. She can be reached by email atKyla_Kakfwi-Scott@gov.nt.caor by phone at (867) 447-0204.
